Other footballers who were born in Ashton-under-Lyne include Trevor Ross,[33] Alan Wright,[34] Gordon Taylor,[35] and Bert Whalley, who died in the 1958 Munich air disaster.[36]

Several Coronation Street actors are also associated with Ashton-Under-Lyne; Bill Tarmey,[37] Roy Barraclough,[38] and Sue Devaney all live in the town.[39]
