Mark and Nikki complained of being victimized as the show did not accurately reflect reality, in ways both implicit (participants being placed in artificial situations) and deceptive (misleading editing, participants being coached on behavior, storylines generated ahead of time, scenes being staged) and they have stated that they were forced to comply or would be held liable for the production costs, Paragraph 6 of contract. Furthermore, Mark and Nikki sued Discovery and Sharp for Libel, because they had edited footage and made Nikki say "for work I work Karaoke Bar" which she never said and implied she was a prostitute or KTV girl, which caused her and her family great shame and humiliation. Matt Sharp, the CEO of Sharp Entertainment defined "dub" when questioned by Mark, before he signed the contract, as "to be able to translate into another language or add a soundtrack", however in court the defense argued that the word "dub" gave Defendants 100% freedom to fictionalize Mark and Nikki (Case #101802-16 Supreme Court of the State of New York County, New York).
