Lev Matyushin Explained
Lev Nikolaevich Matyushin - (Russian: Лев Николаевич Матюшин) (7 May 1932, Moscow — 30 September 2023[2]) was a prominent Soviet Russian sculptor and artist, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts (2011),[3] People's Artist of Russia (2011).
Biography
- 1960 - graduated from the Moscow Higher Art and Industrial School (formerly Stroganov), department of monumental and decorative plastic arts (studied with teachers: E.F. Belashova, G.I. Motovilov, R.R. Iodko, G.A. Shultz, V.I. Kozlinsky, S.L. Rabinovich.)
- 1964 - member of the Artists' Union of the USSR (then - Russia).
- 1990 - Member of the Board of the Sculpture Section of the Moscow Union of Artists.
- 1993 - Honored Artist of the Russian Federation.
- 1993-2013 - Associate Professor of the Department of Monumental Art at the All-Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture.
- 2006 - Member of the Commission on Monumental and Decorative Art at the Moscow City Duma.
- 2011 - People's Artist of the Russian Federation.
- 2011 - Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Monumental works
- 1964 - a monument in memory of the students and teachers of the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy who fell in the Great Patriotic War (Moscow),
- 1968 - monument to the “Soldier of the Great Patriotic War” (Podolsk), memorial ensembles dedicated to those who fell in the Great Patriotic War (three works), cities of Uzbekistan: Samarkand, Bukhara, Chirakchi.
- 1982 - monument to the scientist G.F. Morozov (Khrenovoe village, Voronezh region),
- 1985 - high relief panel “Theater” (Moscow, Druzhba cinema),
- 1986 - monument to Ernesto Che Guevara (Cuba);
- 2013 - memorial monument to musician Georgy Garanian (Moscow, Vagankovskoe cemetery).

Family
- Son - Andrey (b. 1965) (Russian: Андрей Львович Матюшин), architect, graduated from the Moscow MArchI (1989). Candidate of Historical Sciences, professor. Taught architecture at the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute. Member of the Moscow Union of Artists.[4]
- Son - Nikita (b. 1969) (Russian: Никита Львович Матюшин), artist-designer, in 1992 graduated from MVKhPU (former Stroganov College), has been working in the field of interior design since 1994. Member of the Moscow Union of Artists (1996). One of the founders of the design studio Poshinteriors (2014).
