Leordina (Yiddish: לרדינה|Lerdine) is a commune in Maramureș County, Maramureș, Romania. It is composed of a single village, Leordina.

Geography

The commune is located in the northeastern part of Maramureș County, southeast of the city of Sighetu Marmației and northeast of the county seat, Baia Mare. The neighbouring localities are Petrova and Vișeu de Jos. It is situated at an altitude of, in the western foothills of the, on the banks of the river Vișeu.

Leordina is crossed by national road for about ; the road starts in Baia Mare, runs through Sighetu Marmației and Borșa, to the southeast, and ends in Iacobeni, Suceava. The Leordina train station serves the CFR Line 409, which starts in Salva, Bistrița-Năsăud, continues to Vișeu de Jos, and ends in Sighetu Marmației.

Demographics

At the 2021 census, Leordina had a population of 2,307, with an absolute majority (95.5%) of ethnic Romanians.[2]
