The Lead City University of Ibadan, also known as LCU, is a private university located in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.[2] [3] [4] [5] [6]
In 2002, the university submitted an application for establishment to the National Universities Commission. The Standing Committee on Private Universities (SCOPU) conducted verification and final assessment visits on August and September of 2003. At the end of the assessment visits, SCOPU reported that the profile of the proprietor of the university confirmed it had both the capacity and resources to establish itself as a private university. The university was "approved for immediate take-off" by the Board of NUC in December 2003 and was ratified by the Federal Executive Council on February 16, 2005.
Although the university was originally named City University, Ibadan, several cases of mistaken identity resulted in corporate identity problems. As a result, following a meeting on March 7, 2005, the Board of Trustees and Council of the University resolved to modify the name to read Lead City University, Ibadann.[7] The name change was subsequently communicated to the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), and other stakeholders. All previous documents relating to City University, Ibadan remain valid.[8]
Statistics from the university's 15th Convocation[9] (Enterprise Graduate Class of 2022):

They must have 5 credit passes in the ordinary level certificate (O LEVEL), WAEC, NECO, and NABTEB, including math, English and other relevant subjects in their area of specialisation.[12] [13]
