In July 2009, Mochrie was sentenced to two years in prison for supplying gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHB) and perverting the course of justice.[15] [16] His sentence was later reduced to eighteen months on appeal and he was released in December of that year on an electronic tag.[17] [18]
Mochrie is gay and has been in a relationship with Emmerdale co-star Max Parker since 2020.[19] They got engaged in January 2022.[20] [21]
