Bonanken originally played for the academy of FC Golden State Force before graduating from Eleanor Roosevelt High School.[2] He played college football for two teams, first playing with the Mount San Antonio College Mounties in 2017, where he made 16 starts and 22 appearances overall.[3] From 2019 to 2022, he played for the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos, where he was selected for the United Soccer Coaches All-Region Team in 2021.[4] [5]
In 2022, Bonanken signed for National Independent Soccer Association club Los Angeles Force.[6]
In February 2023, it was announced that Bonanken signed for Philippines Football League side Stallion Laguna, which was the club of his former teammate Gabriel Silva.[7] He made his debut for the club in a 1–1 draw with Dynamic Herb Cebu, scoring his first goal for the club in a 3–0 win over Mendiola 1991 a few weeks later.[8]
Bonanken was born in California to Bolivian parents, making him eligible to represent Bolivia at the international level.[9] His favorite footballer is Xabi Alonso.
