Kotenčice is a municipality and village in Příbram District in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 200 inhabitants.
The name is derived from the personal name Kotenec, meaning "the village of Kotenec's people".[2]
Kotenčice is located about 8km (05miles) northeast of Příbram and 40km (30miles) southwest of Prague. It lies mostly in the Brdy Highlands, only the easternmost part of the municipal territory extends into the Benešov Uplands. The highest point is at 452m (1,483feet) above sea level. The stream Kotenčický potok flows through the municipality. The village is surrounded by three fishponds.
The first written mention of Kotenčice is from 1382.[3]
There are no railways or major roads passing through the municipality.
There are no protected cultural monuments in the municipality.[4] In the centre of the village is a chapel.
