, also known as is a Japanese singer-songwriter and internet personality. He is best known for his song "Hai Yorokonde".
Kento Sugō was born in Minoh, Osaka Prefecture, Japan on June 13, 1996.[1] His father is Arata Sugō, a management consultant, journalist, author and television personality.[2] He has two siblings; an elder brother is the actor and singer Masaki Suda, and a younger brother is the actor and model Araki Sugō.[3]
Sugō attended Komazawa University, where he formed an a cappella group called Chemical Quartet with the members from the university's a cappella club Meiseishishin.[4] He won the national amateur a cappella contest A Cappella Spirits for two consecutive years, and later began YouTube career by covering the a cappella version of songs in 2019.[5] He appeared as a backing vocal for the performances of Radwimps and Tōko Miura's "Grand Escape" at the 70th NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen in 2019,[6] and Miisha Shimizu at New Disney Plus Celebration Night.[7]
Kocchi no Kento released his debut single "Tiny" via Blowout Inc. on August 30, 2022. The song is about relationship among his brothers.[8] His late 2022 single "Shinuna!" went moderated viral on TikTok in mid 2023,[9] peaking at number nine on the Billboard Japan Heatseekers Songs.[10] Kocchi no Kento's 2024 single "Hai Yorokonde" became his most successful song to date due to the virality on social media.[11] The song peaked at number five on the Billboard Japan Hot 100,[12] number nine on the Oricon Combined Singles Chart.[13]
