Kiowa Creek is a stream in Comanche County, Kansas. Its watershed includes multiple other streams. West Kiowa Creek forms in northeast Clark County, Kansas, and flows generally southeast,[1] [2] passing through the southwestern corner of Kiowa County, Kansas, where it is joined by Turkey Creek and Little Turkey Creek.[3] [4] It continues into Comanche County,[5] where it is joined by Middle Kiowa Creek,[6] a southerly-flowing stream originating in Kiowa County to the north.[3] [7] The combined stream flows generally south,[5] and becomes simply Kiowa Creek at some point.[8] [9] It is later joined by East Kiowa Creek,[10] also a southerly-flowing stream originating in Kiowa County to the north,[3] [11] and one having its own tributary, Wiggins Creek.[12] Kiowa Creek continues generally south, and travels along the eastern border of the town of Protection, Kansas,[13] before becoming a tributary of Cavalry Creek to the southeast of Protection.[14] Cavalry Creeks feeds into Bluff Creek,[15] which eventually becomes a tributary of the Cimarron River before that watercourse enters Oklahoma.[16] [17]
This stream should not be confused with the Kiowa Creek in Oklahoma and Texas,[18] nor the Kiowa Creek in Colorado,[19] nor the Kiowa Creek in Nebraska,[20] nor with similarly named creeks elsewhere.
