Kiera Skeels (born 20 November 2001) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for Women's Championship club Charlton Athletic and the England under-23 team.[1]

Club career

Reading

Skeels made her debut for Reading in the FA Women's League Cup on 20 October 2019.[2] On 17 July 2020, she signed her first professional contract with the club.[3]

Loan spell at Bristol City

On 3 February 2021, it was announced that Skeels was going on loan to Bristol City for the rest of the season.[4] She made her debut for Bristol in a 3–0 win at Brighton coming on in the 76th minute.[5] Skeels helped Bristol to the final of the WSL Cup in her first start for the club with a 72nd-minute winner against Leicester.[6]

Charlton Athletic

On 30 July 2021, Skeels was announced as part of Charlton Athletic's squad for the 2021–22 FA Women's Championship.[7] She made her league debut against Coventry United on 5 September 2021.[8] On 5 July 2022, Skeels signed a one year contract extension.[9] She scored her first league goal against Sunderland on 25 September 2022, scoring in the 79th minute.[10] On 5 July 2023, Skeels signed a new one year contract extension with the club.[11] On 9 July 2024, she signed a new one year deal with the club.[12]

International career

On 30 September 2022, Skeels was announced in the England U23s squad.[13]

On 25 September 2023, Skeels scored against Belgium U23s, scoring a header in the 72nd minute.[14] This was her first international goal at U23 level.[15] On 30 October 2023, she scored a header against Portugal U23s, scoring in the 76th minute.[16] On 4 April 2024, Skeels scored a tap-in after being assisted by Aggie Beever-Jones, scoring in the 47th minute.[17]
