Khedarmara Union Explained

Khedarmara Union (Bengali: খেদারমারা ইউনিয়ন) is a union parishad under Bagaichhari Upazila of Rangamati District in eastern Bangladesh.

Geography

Khedarmara Union has a total area of . It is bounded on the northeast, east, and south by the Kachalong River (across which lie Baghaichari Union and Sharoyatali Union). It borders Dighinala Upazila to the west and Rupokari Union to the northwest.[1]

Demographics

According to the 2011 Bangladesh census, Khedarmara Union had 2,116 households and a population of 9,813. Of these, the ethnic population was 8,138, almost all of whom were Chakmas. Buddhism was the majority religion (81.3% of the population). Muslims were the second-largest religious community (12.7% of the population). 8.7% of the population was under the age of 5. The literacy rate (age 7 and over) was 47.7%, compared to the national average of 51.8%.[2] [3]

Education

There are two secondary schools in the union, Khedar Mara High School and Uluchhari Mouza High School.[4]
