Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is a large public school district consisting of primary and secondary schools within the city limits of Chicago, in the U.S. state of Illinois.

Elementary/middle schools by type

Chicago Public Schools offers a wide variety of choices for elementary school students, including neighborhood, academic centers, charter, classical, contract, international gifted program, magnet, regional gifted center, small and special education.[9]

Academic centers

Academic centers are housed in high schools and provide a college preparatory program for academically gifted and talented seventh and eighth grade students. There are seven academic centers:[10]
