Kampong Putat or simply known as Putat, is a village in the south-east of Brunei-Muara District, Brunei. The population was 364 in 2016.[2] It is one of the villages within Mukim Lumapas.
One of the business owners from the Kampong Putat MPK, Awang Haji Junggal, stated that in addition to teaching the children carpentry and how to make wood decorations, they are also taught to identify the types of wood that are appropriate for use as decorations because not all wood is suitable for this purpose. Producing items like the machete, sarong pemarang, spoon, gegawi, decorative tops, and more with the assistance of his kids. The products of his labor and their labor have been sold and purchased by both domestic and foreign tourists.[3]
Some of the products produced by the village include the planting of herbal plants, which include White Pelibas, Yellow Pelibas, Black Turmeric, Tongkat Ali, Ambuk Sikubang and various other types of herbs produced in the village. The Yellow or White Pelibas which are used to treat food poisoning and urinary diseases are also planted. In addition, the production of various types of herbal oils such as Bidara Oil, Black Turmeric Oil, Red Betel Oil and various other types of oil consisting of herbal plants.[4]
Putat Primary School is the village's primary school, whereas Putat Religious School is the school for the country's Islamic religious primary education.
The village mosque is Kampong Putat Mosque; it was inaugurated on 21 October 1983.[5] The mosque can accommodate 120 worshippers.
Taman Rekreasi Herba Kampung Putat (Kampung Putat Herbal Recreation Park) started operating in March 2010 was worked on by Majlis Perundingan Kampung (MPK) Putat and all the residents working together is one of the most interesting leisure places to visit. Various types of herbs grow green in the garden. The garden is decorated with huts for sitting and cooking, cemented paths, benches and other facilities are available for the visitors. The coolness of the air surrounded by green trees and rows of herbaceous trees adorning the nature adds to the freshness of this garden with rainwater as a soil fertilizer and polishing the freshness of the herb leaves. In addition to being used as a sports and recreation area, it is also a place to learn and do research about the variety of herbs and their uses in this park.
