Kabile Island (Bulgarian: остров Кабиле|ostrov Kabile, in Bulgarian pronounced as /ˈɔstrof kɐbiˈlɛ/) is an Antarctic island extending 700m (2,300feet) in south–north direction and 450m (1,480feet) wide, situated off the north coast of Greenwich Island in the South Shetland Islands, Antarctica. It has a surface area of 19ha.[1]

Named after the ancient Thracian town of Kabile near the present Bulgarian city of Yambol.[2]

Location

The island is located at -62.4417°N -59.9425°W which is 950m (3,120feet) east of Pavlikeni Point, 1km (01miles) north of Crutch Peaks, 200m (700feet) northwest of Miletich Point, and 2.5km (01.6miles) west-southwest of Ongley Island (Chilean mapping in 1966, British mapping in 1968 and Bulgarian in 2009).
