Julian Howarth is a British sound mixer and recordist.[2] He was nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Sound for the film . His nomination was shared with Gwendolyn Yates Whittle, Dick Bernstein, Christopher Boyes, Gary Summers and Michael Hedges.[3]
Julian holds degrees of BSc (Hons) Physics from Liverpool University. Before transitioning to film and television, he began his career in music and theater.
He worked as a sound engineer for Avatar: The Way of Water, and ensured atmospheric forest or underwater sounds on the set.[4] For the film, he was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Sound category in 2023.[5]
