Jonas Aidoo (born December 10, 2002) is an American college basketball player for the Arkansas Razorbacks of the Southeastern Conference. He previously played for the Tennessee Volunteers.

Early life and high school

Aidoo attended high school at Durham Voyager Academy. In his senior season, Aidoo averaged eleven points, six rebounds, and three blocks.[1] Coming out of high school, Aidoo was rated as a four star recruit, the 7th overall center, and the top player in the state of North Carolina in the 2021 class.[2] Aidoo also held offers from school such as Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Clemson, Kansas, Tennessee, Marquette, West Virginia, and Witchia State.[3] Aidoo ultimately committed to play college basketball for the Marquette Golden Eagles.[4] [5] However, Aidoo decided to de-commit from Marquette after they hired new head coach Shaka Smart.[6] [7] Aidoo decided to flip his commitment to play for Tennessee.[8] [9]

College career

In Aidoo's freshman season versus Kentucky, Aidoo had a breakout game scoring five points, and notching seven rebounds and three blocks in a win over the 3rd ranked Wildcats.[10] In Aidoo's freshman season During the 2021-22 season he played in 19 games averaging 2.1 points per games, 2.2 rebounds per games, 0.2 assists per games, 0.2 steals per game, and 0.5 blocks per game.[11] During the 2022-23 season, Aidoo played in 35 games while making nine starts, where he averaged 5.1 points per games, 4.9 rebounds per game, 0.9 assists per game, 0.5 steals per game, and 1.3 blocks per game.[12] During the 2023-24 season versus Arkansas, Aidoo had a career game scoring 23 points while grabbing 12 rebounds in a victory.[13] During the 2023-24 season, Aidoo was named second team all-SEC and was named to the SEC all defensive team.[14] In the first round of the 2023-24 NCAA tournament, Aidoo scored 15 points, while adding six rebounds and three blocks, as he helped the Volunteers advance beating Saint Peter's in the first round.[15]

Following the 2023–24 season, Aidoo entered the transfer portal, ultimately landing with the Arkansas Razorbacks.[16]
