John W. Kittredge (born September 28, 1956) is the chief justice of the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Education and career

Kittredge is a graduate of the University of South Carolina School of Law

Kittredge served as a Court of Appeals judge for the state from 2003 to 2008.[1]

Supreme Court history

Elected on February 5, 2008, to replace Justice James E. Moore, Kittredge took office on August 1, 2008.[2]

In 2024, the South Carolina General Assembly elected him to be chief justice Donald Beatty's successor.[3] Kittredge will take office this summer with Beatty's retirement.[4]
