Jeremiah Cooper (born April 26, 2004) is an American football defensive back for the Iowa State Cyclones.
Cooper was born in El Paso, Texas where he attended high school at Andress. In Cooper's high school career, he played as both a receiver and as a safety. As a receiver he hauled in 78 receptions for 1,493 yards and 17 touchdowns, while also rushing for 782 yards and two touchdowns. As a safety he notched 143 tackles with seven being for a loss, a sack, 13 pass deflections, 19 interceptions, three fumble recoveries, and three forced fumbles.[2] Cooper would decide to commit to play college football at the University of Iowa State.[3] [4]
In Cooper's freshman season in 2022, he totaled 32 tackles with half a tack being for a loss, and a pass deflection.[5] [6] In week one of the 2023 season, Cooper intercepted two passes, including taking one to the house for a touchdown, as he helped the Cylcones beat Northern Iowa.[7] For his performance, Cooper was named the Big-12 defensive player of the week.[8] [9] In the following week, Cooper would record an interception against rival Iowa.[10] In week seven, Cooper would tack on interception versus Cincinnati to increase his NCAA interception lead to five on year.[11]
Cooper is the brother of former Arizona safety Tristan Cooper, and the brother of current Oral Roberts women's basketball player Hannah Cooper.[12]
