Jenifa is a 2008 Nigerian comedy-drama film starring Funke Akindele. The film received four nominations at the 2009 Africa Movie Academy Awards which includes Best Actress in a Supporting Role, Best Original Soundtrack and Best Nigerian Film. Akindele won Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards for her role in this film.[1] [2] [3] [4]
The 2-part film is the first installment in what has become a very popular franchise in Nigeria. A sequel, The Return of Jenifa, was released in 2011 and a soft reboot television series, Jenifa's Diary, was launched in 2015.
The tv series has two sequel Aiyetoro Town and Jenifa on Lockdown with Jenifa Spell; an interactive game launched in 2019.
Everybody Loves Jenifa, the third feature film of the franchise, is set to be released in Nigerian cinemas in December 2024.[5]
