Jeannie L. Ng Sandoval (born January 14, 1978) is a Filipino politician who is currently serving as the Mayor of Malabon since 2022. She previously served as Vice Mayor of Malabon from 2013 to 2019.
She finished her elementary and secondary education and her bachelor's degree in Computer Science from De La Salle University.[1]
In 2004, she ran for Mayor under the Liberal Party, but lost to then-ABC President Canuto Senen "Tito" Oreta.[2] Few days prior to election day, she promised that if ever she got elected, she will turn the city into a "food city" to elevate the livelihood of her fellow citizens.[3]
In 2013, she ran for vice mayor under the United Nationalist Alliance and won with a margin of 575 votes against her closest rival, then-Councilor Edwin Dimaguiba.[4]
In 2016, she ran for re-election under Nacionalista Party, with her running mate Josephine Veronique "Jaye" Lacson-Noel, the incumbent representative at that time.[5] Her husband, former Malabon-Navotas Rep. Federico "Ricky" Sandoval II also ran.[6] She and her husband won the elections, but her running mate lost to re-electionist Mayor Antolin "Lenlen" Oreta III.
In 2019, although eligible to run for third and final term as vice mayor, she ran for mayor but lost against re-electionist Mayor Antolin "Lenlen" Oreta III.[7]
In 2022, she ran for mayor for the second time and won against Councilor Jose Lorenzo "Enzo" Oreta, brother of then-outgoing Mayor Antolin "Lenlen" Oreta III[8] making her the city's first elected lady mayor.[9]
"Like our moms, normally when you get sick, when you have a problem, the first person you run to is your mom. I want to make the people of Malabon feel, especially if they are having problems, may mga kailangan ng tulong, makakalapit sila, bukas ang pintuan ko anytime."
A mother-like care, that's what she said on an interview on June 27, 2022. As the city's first lady mayor, she added that she will take care of their residents better like a mother who has more sensitivity when it comes to their needs.[10]
During her first 100 days as the city's chief executive, she showcased what she could deliver to her people, including:[11]
She has been trusted as a new city leader by her people. Bringing the people's mandate, she brought the possible transformation in her first 100-working days. There is nothing more important than supporting the steps of local leaders aiming for the betterment of the city and its people.[11]
On December 21, 2022, she signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) and the Universal Storefront Services Corporation (USSC) to launch the “Malabon Ahon Blue Card.” The blue card, which will be given to each household in the city, will increase transparency and efficiency of her administration with the utilization of an electronic financial system to distribute social programs and services (such as financial help) to residents. She said they established the blue cards for the families to get their ayuda, conveniently.[12]
