Jean C. Accius is an American author and advocate in the fields of health equity, social justice, public policy who is the current CEO of Creating Healthier Communities.[1]
Accius completed his education at the Florida State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration and master's degree in aging studies. He also has a bachelor's degree in social work from the University of South Florida. He furthered his studies at the American University in Washington, D.C., obtaining both a master's degree and a PhD in Public Administration. His academic focus has been on public policy, health equity, and social justice.[2]
Accius worked with AARP, where he was Vice President of Long-Term services & Supports and Senior Vice President of Thought Leadership & International Affairs.[3] [4] He also worked with Obama's administration as a senior Policy Advisor within the Disabled and Elderly Health Programs Group at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.[5] [6]
Accius was appointed CEO of CHC: Creating Healthier Communities. Under his leadership, CHC has focused on accelerating health equity and addressing systemic health disparities affecting marginalized communities.[7] [8] [9] [10]
Accius has served as a faculty member at American University.[11] [12] His work has intersected with healthcare, social services, and public policy sectors.[13] [14]
