Not Just Bikes is a YouTube channel run by Canadian-Dutch content creator Jason Slaughter.[1] The channel examines urbanist issues, including but not limited to cycling in the Netherlands, and contrasts the transportation, infrastructure, and built environment of the Netherlands to those of the United States and Canada.
Slaughter was raised in the Canadian city of London, Ontario (or Fake London as he calls it), which he categorizes as a "car-dependent hellscape." He and his family immigrated to Amsterdam in the Netherlands because of the car-centric suburban sprawl common in Canada and the United States, which makes it more difficult to walk, cycle, and make use of public transportation.
Slaughter's 2021 video "Stroads are Ugly, Expensive, and Dangerous (and they're everywhere)" helped popularize the concept of the stroad. In the video, he criticizes stroads for their cost, inefficiency, and lack of safety in the United States and Canada and how cites can improve them.[2]
