Jai Prakash Verma was a member of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly from Gandey Assembly constituency.[1]
He was a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party and joined the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha in 2023. He was a suspended by the JMM during the 2024 general election when he contested as an independent against the alliance candidate from CPI(ML)L Vinod Kumar Singh in Koderma PC by-election.[2] [3]
Verma is son of Jagdish Prasad Kushwaha a veteran leader and elder brother of Rati Lal Prasad Verma, the six time Member of Indian Parliament from Kodarma PC and a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh veteran.J.P Verma family comes under a big political family in koderma Lok Sabha Constituency and is one of the pioneers of Bhartiya Janta Party from the time of joint bihar.[4] [5]
