Jagannath Prasad Bhanu Explained

Jagannath Prasad Bhanu (Hindi: जगन्नाथ प्रसाद भानु, 8 August 1859 – 25 October 1945) was a Hindi scholar of poetry and prose.[1] He is recognized as a pioneering scholar of aesthetics in Hindi.[2] His best known work was the Chandaḥprabhākara, a work of Hindi prose, published in nine editions during his life.

Life

Jagannath Prasad Bhanu was born on 8 August 1859 at Nagpur, the capital of then Central Provinces.[3] He spent most of his life in Bilaspur in modern-day Chhattisgarh.[3] He was a scholar of Hindi, Sanskrit, Prakrit, English, Urdu, Persian, Odia and Marathi.[3] He was especially interested in linguistics and mathematics.[3]

In 1940, Bhanu received the title of Mahamahopadhyaya.[3] He died in 1945.[3] [1]
