James Charles French IV (born December 4) is an American football quarterback for the Georgia Southern Eagles. He previously played for the Memphis Tigers.
French attended Blessed Trinity Catholic High School in Roswell, Georgia. A three-star recruit, he committed to play college football at the University of Memphis over offers from Arkansas State, Virginia Tech, and Tulane.[1] [2]
French redshirted as a freshman at Memphis, before entering the transfer portal.[3] He transferred to Georgia Southern University to play for the Georgia Southern Eagles. After playing sparingly his first season with the Eagles, French was named the team's starting quarterback entering the 2024 season.[4] [5] In his first career start against Boise State, he threw for 322 yards and two touchdowns in a 56–45 defeat.[6]
