, known professionally as, is a Japanese actress.[1] [2] Ashikawa was called the Japanese Audrey Hepburn.[3]
In 1953, Ashikawa was scouted by director Yuzo Kawashima and joined the Shochiku studio. She made her film debut with Tokyomadamu to Osakafujin directed by Yuzo Kawashima. In 1955, she moved to the Nikkatsu studio and gained popularity. In 1968, Ashikawa married actor Tatsuya Fuji and retired.[4] [5] [6] She made her final film appearance in the 1968 film Koto no Taiyo.[7]
