Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin (born Isabelle Boulin on January 21, 1960, in Le Creusot, France) is a member of the French Conseil d'État and President of the National Gaming Authority.

Biography

Falque-Pierrotin obtained various diplomas, including from HEC Paris, the École nationale d'administration and the Institut Multi-médias.[1] In 1986 she was appointed to the Conseil d'État, which is also the country's highest administrative court. From 1991 to 1993 she was a director on the board of the French computer manufacturer Bull.[2]

From 1993 to 1995 Falque-Pierrotin was deputy director in the Ministry of Culture and Communication under Minister Jacques Toubon. From 1996 to 1997 she worked at the OECD, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, as an expert in the development of international cooperation via the Internet. Since 1998, she has been a rapporteur in the Reports and Studies Department of the Conseil d'État and was responsible for coordinating the report on the Internet and digital networks published by the Council of State that same year.[3]

In 2000, Falque-Pierrotin was appointed to set up the Forum des droits sur l’internet, the Internet Rights Forum, initiated by Lionel Jospin, and became its general representative and president of the Forum's advisory board from May 2001 to 2010.[4]

Since May 2007, Falque-Pierrotin has been a member of the Council for Intellectual Property in Literature and Art, the Conseil supérieur de la propriété littéraire et artistique. In February 2009, she became vice-president of the French data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés (CNIL), of which she became president in 2011.[5] In February 2014, she was re-elected for a further five-year term. In the same year, she was elected President of the European Union's Article 29 Data Protection Working Party.[6]

Falque-Pierrotin is married to the general director of a French electrical wholesale company, Thierry Falque-Pierrotin.[7]
