The Institute of Science and Technology, Bangladesh, or IST, is a private institute located at Dhaka, Bangladesh and first affiliated institute with the National University.[1] The institute is regulated by a governing body consisting of professors of Dhaka University, subjects experts, within the rules and regulations of National University of Bangladesh.
IST was established in 1993, the first institute in Bangladesh conducting Honors in Computer Science & Engineering affiliated with National University. It was inaugurated in the presence of Nobel Laureate Abdus Salam and by the former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. It is completely non-profit, non-government and non-political institute.
IST imparts education in various undergraduate, postgraduate and management courses.[2]
IST offers 138 credit hours undergraduate degree program named Bachelor of Science in CSE with four years duration and 33 credit hours graduate program name Master of Science in CSE with one-year duration from this department.[3]
Business administration department of IST offers both undergraduate and graduate degree such as 126 credit hours with four years Bachelor of Business Program(BBA) and 36 credit hours Master of Business Administration(MBA).[4]
Presently IST offers Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) undergraduate course.First It was introduced as a B.Sc. (Honors) in Electronics and Communication Technology in the year of 2005. Later, it was converted to B.Sc. (Honors) in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) in 2007.[5]
The research group includes:
Artificial Intelligence & Neural Networks, Computer Graphics & Image Processing, Computer Networks, Cryptography & Network Security, Database Systems & Software Engineering, Electronics & Communications, Mathematics & Statistics, Accounting, Finance, Management and Marketing.[6]
