If We Could Dream is the second EP by American alternative rock band Hometown Anthem, released on September 26, 2006, through Emerald Moon Records.[1] The EP was written by Hometown Anthem and Rob Freeman. It was recorded at The Pilot Studios, Boonton, New Jersey and was produced, mixed, and mastered by Rob Freeman.
The band shot two music videos for the song "Like No Other". Some of the tracks from the album reappeared on the compilations Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands 10 Compilation, and Beyond [The] Blue.
This is the last project Hometown Anthem completed before the band's disbandment in 2007, a year after the EP was released.
Background and recording
After the success of their debut album, the band resumed work on their next project. The band toured with The Summer Obsession and posted two new songs on their Myspace.[2] It was recorded at The Pilot Studios, Boonton, New Jersey and was produced, mixed, and mastered by Rob Freeman. The cover artwork was made by two people, Megan Lloyd (Original Ferris Wheel Photos) and Justin Lloyd (artwork and layout).[3] Synth was heavily used in this EP compared to its predecessor Don't Hold On To What You Hear.
The EP was also released in Japan on May 30, 2007, through Subrange Records, it added 4 additional tracks although the 4 songs originated from the band's debut album Don't Hold On To What You Hear.[4]
Release and promotion
The band shot a music video for the song "Like No Other" on January 16, 2006. A second version was made later. Some of the songs from the EP later appeared on the album compilations, Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands 10 Compilation (Like No Other)[5] [6] [7] [8] and Beyond [The] Blue (Picture Perfect Pieces).[9]
Critical reception
The EP received positive feedback from critics. Tom from Punktastic said "Having featured on Warcon Records' Best unsigned bands in North America" compilation last year it appears that I'm not the only one enjoying this band, and with fast-paced and catchy songs I'd expect many more people to fall in love with this band."[10]
