Iakovos Tsalikis (Greek: Ιάκωβος Ευβοίας, 1920–November 21, 1991), also known as Iakovos as Evia is a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church. He was abbot of Monastery of Saint David the Elder.
Iakovos was born to pious parents in Asia Minor, with whom he departed to Greece as a refugee of the Greek genocide to the island of Evia. In 1927, the year in which started elementary school, Saint Paraksevi appeared to him and revealed his brilliant ecclesiastical future. In the coming years he had many more visions of Saints, being in continuous prayer and having reportedly healed people in his village. He grew up with everyone knowing of his faith.
From 1938 onward, he lived in extreme asceticism.
In 1947 he was drafted into the army. In 1952, with his parents having died and his sister being married, he was able to become novice monk and the Monastery of Saint David. By 1975 became abbot. It is reported that he spoke to many saints.
In 1991 he died. Thousands of people attended his funeral.[1]
On November 27, 2017, the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople canonized him. His feastday was set for November 22 (Gregorian Calendar)/December 5 (Julian).[2]
