Hudson High School is located between Hudson Academy and Hudson Primary Academy. It is part of the Pasco County Schools school district, which also includes Anclote High School, Angeline Academy of Innovation, Cypress Creek High School, Fivay High School, Gulf High School, James W. Mitchell High School, Kirkland Ranch Academy of Innovation, Land O' Lakes High School, Pasco High School, River Ridge High School, Sunlake High School, Wendell Krinn Technical High School, Wesley Chapel High School, Wiregrass Ranch High School, and Zephyrhills High School. U.S. News & World Report ranked HHS as the 14th high school in Pasco County, the 459th high school in Florida, and the 10,326th high school in the United States in 2024.[2]
Hudson’s feeder schools include Hudson Primary Academy, Shady Hills Elementary, Mary Giella Elementary, Hudson Academy, and Crews Lake Middle.
Hudson High School was first opened in 1973. The class of 1974 was the first graduating class from Hudson High School. On July 8, 1973, the night before classes were to begin at Hudson High School, the school’s first principal, Forest L. Mayer, had a heart attack while working at the school. He died at about 11 p.m. at the Community Hospital in New Port Richey.[3]
