Hope Bourne (Hartland, Devon, 1920^[1] 22 August 2010^[2]) was a self-sufficient painter and writer^[3] who lived alone in primitive cottages^[4] and a caravan on Exmoor,^[5] surviving by growing her own vegetables, fishing, and hunting for rabbits.^[6]

Known as the Lady of Exmoor,^[7] she wrote five books on Exmoor and one novel set in North Devon, was the subject of three TV documentaries^[4] and contributed a weekly column to The West Somerset Free Press.^{[8] [9]}
