Histiobranchus australis explained
Histiobranchus australis, the southern cut-throat eel[1] is an eel in the family Synaphobranchidae (cutthroat eels).[2] It was described by Regan in 1913.[3] It is a marine, deep water-dwelling eel which is known from the southern Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Ocean. It dwells at a depth range of 950mto3001mm (3,120feetto9,846feetm), and leads a benthic lifestyle. Males can reach a maximum total length of 62.8cm (24.7inches), while females can reach a maximum TL of 67cm (26inches).[2]
