Hirschthal is a municipality in the district of Aarau of the canton of Aargau in Switzerland.

History

Hirschthal is first mentioned in 924 as Hyrztale.

Geography

Hirschthal has an area,, of 3.6km2. Of this area, 34.1% is used for agricultural purposes, while 51.5% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 14.1% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (0.3%) is non-productive (rivers or lakes).

The municipality is located in the Aarau district in the mid-Suhr valley.

Demographics

Hirschthal has a population (as of) of ., 8.9% of the population was made up of foreign nationals.[2] Over the last 10 years the population has grown at a rate of 20.2%. Most of the population speaks German (94.0%), with Italian being second most common (1.7%) and Albanian being third (0.8%).[3]
