Hikkaduwa Urban Council (HUC) is a local authority established in 2000 in the Galle District, Southern Province, Sri Lanka covering the town of Hikkaduwa itself, plus 8 villages, on a total surface of 12.83 square kilometers[1] and 27 GN Divisions[2] .
Hikkaduwa Urban Council jurisdiction extends along the coastal zone for about 06 km, and the inland area is about 03 km[3] .

The urban area is the town of Hikkaduwa. The 8 villages are Dodanduwa, Patuwatha, Thiranagama, Wewala, Pikanda, Nalagasdeniya, Kumarakanda and Handaudumulla[5] .
The Hikkaduwa Urban Council is responsible for providing a variety of local public services including roads, sanitation, drains, housing, libraries, public parks and recreational facilities. It has 11 councillors elected using an open list proportional representation system.[6]
