Heteronotus Explained

Heteronotus is a genus of treehoppers belonging to the subfamily Heteronotinae, of which it is the type genus. It was first described by François Laporte in 1832.[1]

Description

Most species of Heteronotus have an appearance mimicking ants and wasps, with hollow bulbs and spikes. In some cases, the pronotum stretches beyond the wings.

Distribution

Species of Heteronotus are found across Central and South America, stretching from Mexico to Argentina.[2] [3]
