Heptapleurum calyptratum explained

Heptapleurum calyptratum, commonly known as mallet flower, is a species of plant in the family Araliaceae. It is a scrambling tree that ranges from eastern India and Bangladesh through Tibet and Indochina to southern China.

Description

Heptapleurum calyptratum in small tree growing 15-20' tall. It has palmate leaves with 7-12 leaflets growing in a whorled fashion. It produces distinct green mallet shape flower buds.

Conservation

The plant (as Schefflera pueckleri) is an IUCN Conservation-dependent species, that is threatened by habitat loss.
