Hassan Ben Kamel Ayari (; born 8 December 2002) is a footballer who plays for Toronto FC II in MLS Next Pro. Born in the United States, he represents Tunisia at youth international level.
Early life
In August 2014, he joined Northern Ireland club TW Braga's youth academy.[1] However, the club was latter issued a £8,500 fine by FIFA for improper registration of Ayari, despite him having a European passport.[2]
In 2019, Ayari joined the Sheffield United F.C. Academy.[3] [4] In January 2021, he debuted with Sheffield United's U23 team, scoring a brace in his first appearance.[5]
Club career
In July 2021, after completing his scholarship, he signed a pro deal Sheffield United.[6] [7] In September 2022, Ayari was loaned to Scarborough Athletic in the sixth tier National League North.[8] [9] In late October 2022, he was recalled by Sheffield United, terminating the loan early.[10] In November 2022, after asking to leave the club,[11] he went on trial with Sheffield Wednesday.[12] [13] However, he did not signed with Sheffield Wednesday and ultimately returned to Sheffield United's youth sides.[14] His contract would expire in the summer of 2023.[15] [16] After his contract expired, he went on trial with Burton Albion.[17] [18]
In April 2024, Ayari signed a professional contract with Toronto FC II in MLS Next Pro.[19] He made his debut on 19 April, in a substitute appearance, against New England Revolution II.[20] In June 2024, he signed a short-term loan with the Toronto FC first team.[21]
International career
Ayari was born in the United States to a Lithuanian mother and a Tunisian father.[22] [23]
In 2020, he committed to play for Tunisia.[24] In 2021, he played with Tunisia U20 at the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.[25] [26]
