Hasan Allahyari (born 1980s–1990s) is an Afghan Shia scholar and the founder of Ahlebait TV. Born in Kabul, Allahyari is a scholar of Twelver Shia Islam.
Allahyari founded Ahlebait TV in 2009 and broadcasts it from San Diego, California.[1] He also left wearing the Shia clerical dress, switching to Western suits. Allahyari can speak four languages, Arabic, English, Persian and Urdu.[2]
In beliefs, Allahyari rejects the concept of marja'iyat, the clergy of Usulism of Twelver Shias. Allahyari is a staunch critic of Sunni Islam and has often criticized Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman, the first three rightly-guided caliphs, as "enemies of the ahl al-bayt". Allahyari's critical remarks on Aisha, the wife of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, and on Mu'awiya, a companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, has caused harsh reactions from Sunnis.[3] [4] Several Shias have termed Allahyari an "agent of foreign spy services".[5] Allahyari also came to criticism by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) when he mocked Christians at his show and his statements were publicized.[6]
