Hanus Sørensen (born 19 February 2001) is a Faroese footballer who plays as a defender for HB.
As a youth player, Sørensen joined the youth academy of Faroese side HB. In 2017, he joined the youth academy of Danish side FC Midtjylland. Ahead of the second half of the 2020–21 season, he signed for Danish side Middelfart, before he returned to his old club HB on loan. The same year, he signed permanently for the club, where he made his breakthrough into a Faroese international. Two years later, he signed for Slovenian side Celje, and will start playing for the club starting from the second half of the 2024–25 season.
Sørensen has represented the Faroe Islands internationally at under-17, under-19, under-21, and senior level. Altogether, he made forty-two appearances for the under-17, and under-19, and under-21 teams combined, and helped the under-17's achieve qualification for the 2017 UEFA European Under-17 Championship.[1] He made his debut for the national team on November 16, 2022, starting as a right-back in a 5-0 loss to Czechia, and scored his first goal in a 1-1 draw with Latvia during the 2024–25 UEFA Nations League C.
Sørensen can play as a defender or midfielder and is right-footed. While playing for Faroese side HB during the 2024 season, he mainly played as a midfielder.[2] In addition, he is known for his speed.[3]
