Hannah Pearl Davis,[1] (born November 4, 1996) better known online as JustPearlyThings or simply Pearl, is an American YouTuber, political commentator and a spinster. She first rose to prominence as part of the online manosphere subculture.[2] Noted for her embrace of the movement and its ideologies, much of her commentary has been described as "misogynistic" or "anti-feminist."[3]

Early life and education

Davis was raised as a Roman Catholic in Huntley, Illinois.[4] She has nine siblings, three of whom were adopted and one of whom was placed for adoption. Her younger sister, Gabrielle, is a popular TikTok influencer and pilot. Davis's parents are software engineers and founders of Davisware, a business management software company. Her mother, Jennifer Davis, served on the US board of directors for UN Women and founded BExponential, a self-help organization for women.

Davis attended Marian Central Catholic High School, then studied economics at Elmhurst University.[5] She played volleyball for the Elmhurst Bluejays during her time at college.[6]

Career

Davis began producing content for social media in 2020. She amassed over 900,000 followers on TikTok, especially due to the popularity of her series Breakup Quiz, on which she critically evaluated participants' former relationships.[7] [8] Her account was banned in 2022.[9]

On her YouTube channel, Davis has conducted street interviews and interviewed prominent personalities in the manosphere online space.[10] She also hosts "The Pre-Game Show" podcast.[11] In 2023, Davis was sued by a former podcast guest for "intentional exploitation and humiliation of a vulnerable person".[12] Sa Ra Garvey, a former co-host on the podcast, has alleged that she underpaid Black creators on the show.[13]

Political views

Davis is a conservative, and she describes herself as an "anti-feminist".[14] She has credited right-wing political commentators Ben Shapiro and Thomas Sowell for inspiring her media career and has been described as the "female Andrew Tate".[14] [15]

On June 28, 2023, she stated in a Twitter video that "women should not vote" and that "the courts, the legal system, all of society is basically pandering and simping for women." In an interview with Ethan Klein on the H3 Podcast, she stated that "if feminists want the right to vote, right, then it should come with the draft." In the same interview, she argued that divorce should be illegal.

Davis posted a now-deleted video in July 2023 called "Why Can't We Talk About the Jews?", which was widely criticized for containing anti-Semitic tropes.[16] [17] In an interview with Piers Morgan on Piers Morgan Uncensored, she stated that the song was about cancel culture and free speech rather than anti-Semitism.[18] She also characterizes public perceptions surrounding slavery in the United States to be embellished.
