Political career
Hesse began his political career as a county commissioner for Washington County in the 1910s.[2] He later served as school clerk in Hillsboro[3] and on the board of the Washington County Fair.[4] In 1938, he was elected as a Republican to District 4 of the Oregon House of Representatives,[5] replacing Ray L. Antrim of Aloha.[6] He served in the 1939, 1941,[7] 1943,[8] 1945[9] sessions before Harry Schmeltzer replaced him in District 4.[10] Hesse won reelection in November 1946,[11] but resigned due to poor health and died on July 17, 1947.[12]
