Greg News com Gregório Duvivier is a satirical late-night talk show aired on HBO Brasil. Inspired by the American Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and produced by the Porta dos Fundos collective, which includes presenter Gregório Duvivier, it premiered in May 2017.[1]
The first season had 20 half-hour episodes, ending in September. Shortly before the end, it was confirmed that the show would be renewed for two more seasons. A twenty-first episode was released on YouTube in December. The second season premiered in March 2018.[2] Despite having HBO's usual artistic freedom, the program is strictly monitored by the broadcaster's legal department in order to avoid lawsuits.[3]
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fourth season had to have episodes recorded at Duvivier's house, and frequently discussed the effects of the pandemic in Brazil.[4] The fifth season moved to a small studio with a skeleton crew.[5] The sixth season took a break during the general elections in Brazil in 2022 because of legal restrictions during the period.[6]
In 2024, after seven seasons, HBO Brasil cancelled the show.[7]
