Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia
The majority of Greek Orthodox church communities in South Australia and the Northern Territory are under the spiritual jurisdiction of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia. Bishop Silouan of Sinope, an auxiliary bishop to Archbishop Makarios of Australia, is the current Bishop responsible for the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide and the Northern Territory. Bishop Silouan was appointed Archdiocesan Vicar in October 2019, elected as a bishop by the Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate in November 2019 and consecrated as Bishop of Sinope by Archbishop Makarios on January 19, 2020, at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of Our Lady in Sydney.[2] The central offices of the District are based at the Archdiocesan Cathedral in Bowden having been formerly based at the Parish of St. Panteleimon in Glenelg North.
