The Gorur Dam is constructed across the Hemavati river in 1979.[1] The dam is located in Gorur village of Arkalgud Taluk, Hassan district, Karnataka.[2]

Gorur Dam is a large reservoir covering a catchment area of 2,810 km². With the length of 4,692 meters and a height of 58.5 meters the reservoir has gross storage capacity of 1,050.63 mcm.[3]
