Golestan (Persian: گلستان) is a city in, and the capital of, Golestan District of Baharestan County, Tehran province, Iran, and also serves, with Nasimshahr, as one of the two capitals of the county.[2]
Demographics
Population
At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 231,882 in 57,216 households, when it was in Robat Karim County.[3] The following census in 2011 counted 259,480 people in 72,096 households,[4] by which time the district (except the city of Nasirshahr) had been separated from the county in the establishment of Baharestan County.[2] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 239,556 people in 70,072 households.[5]
Climate
Köppen-Geiger climate classification system classifies its climate as cold semi-arid (BSk).[6] In summer, its average temperatures are cooler than that of Tehran city, so as its average winter temperatures are colder.
