Gniewczyna Łańcucka (pronounced as /pl/) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Tryńcza, within Przeworsk County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-eastern Poland.[1] It lies approximately 9km (06miles) south-west of Tryńcza, 60NaN0 north of Przeworsk, and 360NaN0 east of the regional capital Rzeszów.
In May 1942 Polish citizens of Gniewczyna Łęczycka and Gniewczyna Tryniecka detained and for several days tortured and raped the remaining Jewish population of the village, before handing them over to the Germans for execution.[2] [3] [4] However, some local Poles also tried to shield the Jews.[5]
