Gizelle Annette Bryant (née Graves; born September 9, 1970) is an American television personality, author and philanthropist. She is a main cast member on the reality TV series The Real Housewives of Potomac since 2016.[1]

Early life

Bryant was born Gizelle Graves on September 9, 1970, in Houston, Texas to Curtis Graves who served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives and Joanne Graves.[2] One of three siblings, Bryant studied marketing at Hampton University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree.[3] After finishing university Bryant worked for the NAACP under Kwesi Mfume.[4]

Career

Before joining The Real Housewives of Potomac, Bryant sold her own baked goods at Top Chef contestant Timothy Dean restaurant, in Washington D.C.[5]

In 2016, Bryant made her first appearance on The Real Housewives of Potomac as an original cast member. After the first season in 2017, she launched her cosmetic line EveryHue Beauty, which was centered around women of all skin tones. The pandemic-induced supply chain issues forced her to shut down.[6] Bryant wrote her first fictional novel My Word, loosely based on her time as first lady of a megachurch.[7]

Bryant transitioned into media in 2020, and she co-hosted Bravo's Chat Room alongside Porsha Williams, Hannah Berner and Kate Chastain.[8] In 2021, she started her podcast Reasonably Shady with castmate Robyn Dixon. The podcast was nominated for Outstanding Arts and Entertainment Podcast at the 53rd NAACP Image Award.[9]

In March 2023, Bryant starred in the third season of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, which premiered on Peacock.[10]

In July 2024, it was announced that Bryant would be starring alongside fellow Housewives Ashley Darby, Shannon Storms Beador and Luann de Lesseps on a Real Housewives spin-off dating show on Peacock titled Love Hotel, with filming taking place in Cabo San Lucas and expected to premiere in 2025.[11]

Philanthropy

Bryant worked on the behalf of the EPA for the city council of Birmingham, Alabama. She helped to clean up a superfund site that left an area of the city with toxic soil.[12] The former mayor, William A. Bell awarded Bryant the Community Engagement Award.

Personal life

Bryant married Dr. Jamal Bryant, Senior Pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in 2002. They have three daughters. The couple later divorced in 2009.[13]

Bryant is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.[14]
