Frans (in French pronounced as /fʁɑ̃/), known colloquially as Frans-les-Vernes, is a commune in the Ain department in eastern France.
The village is located in the south-western part of the Ain department in the fertile Val de Saône some 35 km north of Lyon and 4 km east of Villefranche-sur-Saône.
The inhabitants of Frans are called Franvernois
